The Happy Little Hurleys participated in a class poetry festival where they enjoyed reading and writing a variety of different poems. They learned about imagery, visualization, and communication, while expressing their discoveries through a variety of poetic styles. The students were very excited to explore this new form of composition. At the conclusion of our unit we submitted original poems to the Massachusetts Science Poetry Contest sponsored annually by Boston College. Although there are usually upwards of 6,000 entries annually Hurleys have won twice in the past so keep your fingers crossed.
