The Global Read Aloud introduced us to Mrs. Patton's second grade class at the Aspire Academy in Texas. We skyped with our new friends to share our response to Peter Reynolds selections for this year's GRA. We discussed the characters and messages in the texts and our connections to each. We asked questions about their school and classroom and shared with them about life as a Happy Little Hurley. We were jealous that they have a 1:1 iPad initiative and 85 degree weather. They wished they had a pond and a lake where they could catch frogs for their science unit. We plan to skype again when we finish our sixth book.

Our Friends In Texas
