The Blizzard of 2015

                                            Juno

The Happy Little Hurleys have been busy meteorologists. We began our weather unit after the holiday break. Monday, January 5th had extremely high winds. We logged into Weather Underground and watched the wind gust at Dean Park up to 15 miles per hour. We predicted then checked the high and low temperatures each day. We recorded the data in our journals and graphed our statistics. As meteorologist we observed a weather pattern of cold - below freezing to sub zero temperatures.
As January drew to a close the weather pattern changed. Snow moved in. Juno arrived. The blizzard of 2015 brought the largest snowfall in our area since 1917. The official record for Shrewsbury was 32.5 inches. It snowed for three days. The Hurleys documented the snowfall with meter sticks and photographs. High and low temperatures were recorded in journals. Damage on the Cape and islands was noted. Governor Baker's emergency measures were discussed. After two no school days the Hurleys returned to room three and blogged about their observations.

Monday, February 2nd brought another storm with twelve inches of snow combined with sleet this time. It was another no school day so the Hurley meteorologists when back out in the elements with their meter sticks to document the snowfall and record all relevant data.
We have had a lot of fun and learned a lot during our weather unit. We await calls from the local news stations to recruit talent.
