Shrewsbury Fire Department to Host “Free Lunch!” Open House
The Shrewsbury Fire Department welcomes local families
to a “Free Lunch” Open House on Saturday, May 4, 2013from
11:00am-2:00pm. The Open House is aimed at teaching families fire
safety and prevention practices. The Shrewsbury Fire Department Open
House will be held at Fire Headquarters, located at 11 Church Road.
The Fire Department will provide hamburgers, hotdogs and beverages
for every one that attends thanks to the generous donations of our local
supermarkets. There will also be free fire helmets, coloring books and
badges for the kids. Fire Engines and Antique Pumpers will be on
display. Fire Station tours will also be provided by Shrewsbury
Firefighters.Additionally, participants will receive safety information such as identifying home hazards, home escape plans, how to escape a fire and other emergencies.
“This event allows us to reach out to the community and arm local families with fire safety tips and prevention practices,” said Chief Vuona. “Our open house allows families to get together and better prepares them to react if a fire does start.”
The open house is part of a broader community relations campaign that encourages families to learn about fire safety.
